Here is what is coming up...
Tuesday, September 14, 2010 - Lunch Meeting
Changing Channels: The World of Television News in the Internet Age
Our keynote speaker at our evening annual meeting will be award-winning broadcast journalist Susan Wornick, WCVB-TV’s midday newscast anchor, NewsCenter 5’s consumer reporter and a member of Team 5 Investigates. Susan will be speaking about the changing and challenging world of television news in the Internet age. Please join us for what will certainly be a lively and informative discussion of how regional television news is evolving and revolving through a 24-hour news cycle and how social media is affecting newscasts.
Wornick joined WCVB in 1981 and has been an anchor of the midday newscast since February 1989. In January 2006, she was named a member of Team 5 Investigates, WCVB’s investigative unit, and also serves as the station’s consumer reporter.
She has won many awards while at WCVB including three regional Emmy Awards and she is an avid volunteer in the community. In 1985, she gained national prominence by refusing to reveal a news source. Wornick was held in contempt of court and narrowly averted a jail sentence. Read more about Susan Wornick.
